This year we’re presenting A LOT OF WORK at Milan Design Week! Two exhibitions, two new books, two signings, the latest iteration of our pop-up bookshop, the big reveal of ApartamentoTV, and a party! We’re taking over Ordet—with a Muller Van Severen exhibition featuring 15 gigantic candleholders on the ground floor and the latest iteration of the Apartamento Bookshop on the first floor, where you’ll find Apartamento titles, products, and exclusive Muller Van Severen merch! We teamed up with Jil Sander for our second exhibition Reference Library, an affirmation of the book as an object and of reading as an act of devoted attention. Along with our exhibitions, we’re hosting signings for Muller Van Severen’s A Lot of Work and Jasper Morrison’s The Unimportance of Form. For anyone who isn’t in Milan (or for those who are and want to see behind the scenes), you can get exclusive access to Milan Design Week with ApartamentoTV—our new video channel!
Apartamento Bookshop
Milan Design Week 2026
APARTAMENTO x MULLER VAN SEVEREN
Below the Apartamento Bookshop at Ordet you’ll find Silhouettes: Celebrating 15 Years, our Muller Van Severn exhibition featuring 15 gigantic aluminium candleholders (works courtesy of Tim van Laere Gallery Antwerp–Rome). Throughout the week, coloured candles crowing the top of each structure will burn, allowing time to operate as a sculptural, spatially designed material. Open from Monday, April 20 through Sunday, April 26, from 10am to 8pm.
APARTAMENTO BOOKSHOP
‘The book gathers works from our individual practices and our shared oeuvre, allowing images to speak through adjacency rather than explanation. Meaning arises through proximity and contrast’.
—Hannes Van Severen
On the first floor of Ordet, you’ll find the latest iteration of the Apartamento Bookshop—new releases, cult classics, and two Milan debuts: Silhouettes, a new series of Muller Van Severen candleholders drawn directly from the exhibition and developed in collaboration with BD Barcelona, and A Lot of Work, our brand new Muller Van Severen monograph. Edited by Nicolás Barreto and Nacho Alegre, the book traces their work across 15 years, revealing both the sensibilities of their individual trajectories and their singular universe. On Monday, April 20, join Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen the exhibition opening party, with a book presentation and signing from 5 to 7pm, drinks provided by Birrificio de Ducato to follow.
APARTAMENTO x JIL SANDER
Across the city at Jil Sander, Reference Library—60 books chosen as personal references by people whose perspectives we admire, installed by Milanese architecture practice studioutte. In a time defined by skimming, by fragments, by paths set in advance, this exhibition insists on something slower, more deliberate, and more personal. Open April 20 through 24, 11am to 5pm. You can check out videos from one of our Reference Library contributors below!
APARTAMENTO x JASPER MORRISON
‘Desire is the single most important ingredient in the creative mind’.
—Jasper Morrison
On Thursday, April 23 at 4pm in Commerce we’re hosting a book signing with Jasper Morrison of The Unimportance of Form, the newest addition to our reading series. From autobiographical manifestos and Jasper’s 1985 RCA thesis to later essays, musings, and even notes for an unfinished novel, the compendium of 31 texts compiled in this book for the first time captures the honing of a lifelong argument about what design is—and what it should be.
